Always Ready for the Beach

Always Ready for the Beach!

Phuket is best known for its beautiful beaches and who can say no to that perfect white sand and that marvellous blue water? Everyone loves to spend time on the beach, enjoying the sea breeze and the cool ocean but there are always things to keep in mind.

Thailand is a hot country and it is close to the Equator, so the Sun is particularly harsh in this part of the world. You’ve earned your relaxing holiday and sitting out on the beach is much better than sitting in the office but beware of the sunlight.

Just like that, a perfectly common situation requires some careful consideration. You could go out to the beach without worrying too much or be carrying anything to mitigate certain situations but that is just adding unnecessary risks to your day.

Here are a few travel tips to keep in mind for your holiday and your time on the beach in Phuket.

Stay Hydrated

It is easy to be carried away on holiday, as you will be spending your time doing all the fun things you enjoy doing but in truth, the body has the same needs every day. Thailand is hot all the time and you lose a lot of water through sweat.

All of this can sap you of your energy and at worst; you could suffer a bout of sunstroke. Drink water regularly and stay sheltered from the Sun. You can always work on your tan but remember to spend short amounts of time in direct sunlight.

Even if you are sitting in the Sun make sure you have some sunblock or tanning lotion (they work differently, so remember that) to avoid sun damage or to hasten the process and get the desired colour. Ultimately, you need to stay out of sunlight as much as possible as it can do major damage to your skin and overall health.

Check the Weather

If it is going to rain too much, you need to make sure you are prepared for it. The rainwater perhaps won’t do damage to you physically (your personal electronic devices are another matter altogether) but it makes travelling more difficult.

Heavy rain reduces visibility drastically so you want to avoid travelling on the roads in any vehicles during this time. Even if you did travel, it would be difficult to find a taxi that is willing to take you far. If the forecast predicts rain, try to go somewhere close by so that you don’t have a long journey to make on your way back.

Plan Safeguards in Advance

Travel insurance is something you should book before coming to Thailand. No one wants to think about the worst-case scenario but if you have it, you have one less thing to worry about.

Make sure you carry useful identification on you so that you don’t get bothered by the authorities. A passport copy won’t work as well as the passport but it definitely helps.

Get the emergency contact details of your home embassy and the local authorities; you never know when you might need them.

Respect the Rules of the Beach

Tourists come to Phuket in very large numbers and they have been doing so for years. Unfortunately, the once unspoilt beauty of the Phuket coast started to degrade due to years of overexploitation of resources.

The authorities of Phuket have enforced beach guidelines to keep Phuket pristine and it is up to visitors to follow these rules. Local lifeguards are also positioned at many spots along the beaches and they often monitor the activity of the waves and the nature of the tide. From time to time, they will stop swimming in the sea because of dangerous swimming conditions such as riptides. Follow any directives from the lifeguards, as accidental drowning due to riptides is a possibility you can avoid.

If there are any touts on the beach, ignore their advances and stay clear of arguments, as con men are common on some stretches.

Ultimately, you are here in Phuket to enjoy yourself. Once you have prepared yourself with this tips, have a memorable time on the beach. Enjoy the delights of Patong Beach in Phuket at the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. Located just two minutes away from the beach, the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is an ideal place to unwind and enjoy your vacation.
