Enjoy The Carnival

07 November 2018

Visit the Resorts in Patong, Phuket in November to enjoy The Carnival - Holiday Inn Resort Phuket

Early November in Patong Means it’s Time for the Patong Carnival

While the residents of Patong in Phuket certainly don’t need much of a reason to throw a party, the arrival of the high season is always something to celebrate. The first of November marks the beginning of high season and it’s also when Patong shifts into high gear. What better time to throw a three-day long Carnival?

Any street party in Thailand is sure to include some mouth-watering foods to try. Patong doubles down on this by also hosting the Patong Seafood Festival at the same time the Carnival is in full swing.

So Patong is the place to be in November for everyone who appreciates the colour and pageantry of a Carnival and the succulent, Thai seafood delights that Phuket is known for.

Explore the Different Zones of the Carnival

The Carnival is separated into different zones, with the largest area concentration of stalls being situated along Beach Road and Bangla Road. Soi Post Office and Soi Dr Wattana also play host to zones of the Carnival.

You can find art exhibitions, including rare photos of Patong in its formative years, cultural dance performances, live music, handicraft exhibits and, of course, more delicious food than you could ever eat.

With the combination of the Carnival and the Patong Seafood Festival, you will find food from all around the Asian continent including Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Korean and Vietnamese dishes. The seafood, in particular, is some of the freshest to be found anywhere.

Seafood lovers who venture to the Patong Seafood Festival area along Beach Road will have their work cut out for them trying to sample all there is on offer. Choose from locally caught delicacies including slipper lobsters, crabs, prawns and local oysters that are as big as a saucer and served with lime and green chilli sauce. Of course, don’t forget all the steamed, baked in salt and fried fish to be tasted.

Everyone Loves A Parade

The Carnival traditionally kicks off on November 1st with an early evening parade that winds its way along Sai Kor Road. The parade, featuring extravagant costumes and marching bands, turns right and heads down to Beach Road and then back up along Beach Road to Bangla Road where it ends.

Staking out a place anywhere along this route is a good idea to do well before the parade starts. Bars and restaurants that have a second floor view of the street below are particularly popular during the parade.

If you want to enjoy the parade and simply browse without carrying around a lot of shopping bags, many of the stalls are sponsored by businesses offering whatever is on display in the various stalls. They’ll be happy to provide with their name and location in case you find something that you want to buy later.

Enjoy the ‘Walking Weather’ of Phuket in November

Besides the end of the rainy season in Phuket, November also represents the time of the year where you will notice a significant drop in the level of humidity that can make walking so uncomfortable in the tropics.

This means it’s the perfect time to explore Patong on foot. Patong is not a particularly large town, so most areas of interest can be reached within a short walk. If you find yourself tiring after a while, simply flag down a tuk-tuk or motorbike taxi to take you back to whichever resorts in Phuket, Patong you are staying at.

Take a business card with you from the front desk of your resort before you set out on your walk to show the location of your resort to the driver.

With the Carnival and the Patong Seafood Festival lasting for three days, you’ll find that you will want to explore everything they have to offer. And this means you’ll be venturing out to all the different zones.

As always, simply be sure to bring plenty of water, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat, as the effects of the sun can tend to creep up on you. Once you are well-equipped for your day, indulge yourself in the colour and spectacle of the Patong Carnival and the Patong Seafood Festival.
