Enjoy a Holiday on the Beach in Patong

Patong is undoubtedly the most famous beach destinations on Phuket. Patong Beach is the beating heart of the island; it’s big, bold, bright, and boisterous. There is something for everyone here, and that’s why millions of visitors flock here annually.

This 2.5-kilometer-long bustling beach town is famed for its vibrant daytime activities and lively night-time ones. Nowhere else in Phuket has so many attractions (water sports, shopping, massage, bars) or restaurants.

The real success of Patong is that it’s a chameleon, catering to all tastes and budges. So, whether you’re a newlywed couple, a group of friends or family of four, you can find a Patong experience to suit you perfectly.

By staying at the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, you’ll be right in the heart of the action on Beach Road. There is a good reason our hotel is considered one of the best resorts in Patong. We are especially renowned as being one of the most family- and kid-friendly accommodation options in the area. We are a premier family hotel destination and can’t wait to welcome you. Let’s now discuss a bit more about why our location so ideal for all holidaymakers.

The Beach

Patong Beach is almost 3 kilometers long and often crowded in the middle part during high season. The northern part of the beach is more beautiful and a lot less busy. In this part of Patong, there are fewer people and more parking, plus plenty of local food vendors. The water is also bluer here, and there are plenty of palm trees providing shade.

The water at the southern end is not always as clear as in the north, because here a river flows into the sea. But this part of the beach has umbrellas and beach chairs for rent, providing a helpful service for visitors. There is also a long floating pontoon set-up in the high season, so tourists can hop longtail boat rides out to the surrounding island, such as Freedom Beach.

The reason the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is considered one of the premier resorts in the area in that we’re so ideally located beside the beach, affording guests easy access to/from the hotel. So, don’t worry if you head out and forget your sunscreen, pop back for it. Fancy a lunchtime snack – just came back to the hotel. Need an afternoon nap before your sunset beach stroll, no worries, just come home for a while. Seaside holidaying was never so easy and convenient!

Water sports

Patong Beach encompasses a wide range of activities, particularly sporting ones. There is always something to do in Patong; it is impossible to get bored in such a lively place with so many fun activities related to the ocean on hand. Let’s look at a few of the most popular ones:

Parasailing is a fun choice of activity for those who are a bit daring. The epicenter for this activity on the island is Patong Beach. Prices vary depending on the vendor; on average, expect to pay about THB 800 to 1,300 per ride, which lasts about five minutes.

Patong Beach is also home to about eight windsurfing shops along the beach. Lessons are available for beginners. Phuket is an excellent destination for established windsurfing pros and enthusiastic beginners. Costing around THB 2,500/hour.

Imagine skimming over the azure waves in your very own boat. Taking to the high seas and sailing in Patong is very easy. Small craft called ‘Hobbie Cats’ is available for rental, along with a crew to show you the ropes. These run from around THB 4,000/hour and up.

Jet-skiing is for many the most thrilling way to take to the high skies. Those who love to make waves can head to Patong Beach where the machines are for hire by the day or hour (approx. THB 3,000). Make sure you wear a life jacket and carefully check the vehicle’s condition before heading off.

Other fun activities include paddle-boarding, kayaking, and banana boat rides.

*Weather conditions – from November-May the monsoon season brings steady winds together with flat seas, combined with clean, clear water. The peak season for winds is November-February. From mid-May through late October, heavy seas and storms make water sports ill-advised for all but the most experienced.
