Where to Stay in Phuket

18 July 2018

Phuket is one of the most popular destinations in Thailand and it is easy to see why.

Everyone has preferences for what they want out of a vacation but unlike so many other destinations in Thailand, Phuket is a large island that has a large variety of areas and places to stay.

You can choose to stay at one of the beaches on your first visit but on a return visit, you have the opportunity to try something new. Some visitors want to pick a place that suits them best on their very first visit to Phuket and that is very understandable. Here are some of the most popular areas in Phuket.

1. Patong Beach: The most famous beach in Phuket is the most popular for many reasons. Patong is always a vibrant and exciting place to stay in Phuket. For one thing, it has so many bars, restaurants and entertainment options that you’ll never get bored if you stay there. From the malls and Bangla Road to the nightlife that goes on into the wee hours of the night, Patong is just too much fun. If you decide to stay at Patong, join us at the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket.

2. Karon Beach: The beach that is just south of Patong, Karon is the peaceful beach that offers the best of both worlds. The beach itself has fine sand and it is a great a place to spend a morning or afternoon. For a fun night out you can always head to Patong, which is not too far away. The next beach on the list is extremely close by as well and it has many wonderful attractions as well.

3. Kata Beach: A popular place for young families and young travellers, Kata Beach is less crowded than Patong. Some of the best restaurants in Phuket are in Kata and you’ll really enjoy a nice meal out here. It has some nightlife spots but they aren’t as numerous as Patong or even Karon for that matter. Kata is always one of the most visited beaches in Phuket and it is easy to see why.

4. Kamala Beach: North of Patong is Kamala Beach, a convenient beach for tourists looking to party hard in Patong but try a different atmosphere during the day. There are plenty of water sports activities to choose from such as jet skiing, paragliding and so on. Patong is not far from Kamala and for a fun night out, you can always head over there.

5. Surin Beach: One of the more exclusive beaches in Phuket, Surin is actually a quiet spot for relaxation and enjoying the good life. Surin has the reputation for high-end luxury resorts and incredible private villas. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t anything to do in Surin because fine dining restaurants and wine bars are fixtures in the area.

6. Rawai Beach: Located on the southwest coast of Phuket, Rawai Beach was one of the first tourist beaches in Phuket. With the improved road connectivity, the other beaches gradually became more popular but Rawai still has many benefits. It’s a nice place to get a feel for the local culture and the boats and ferries to Coral Island, Koh Lone and Racha Island leave from here.

7. Phuket Town: The city centre of Phuket, the Old Town or just Phuket Town does not have any beaches near it. Instead, you get the real Phuket experience with locals going about their business and the Portuguese inspired architecture setting the mood. There are cafes, restaurants and attractions here that the rest of the island simply does not have.
