Patong Beach Luxury Hotel in the Heart of the Action
When night falls, the streets light up like Las Vegas. Most shops and restaurants stay open late every night, with market stalls and malls selling everything from sarongs to sportswear to souvenirs. When staying in Patong’s hotels, you have the opportunity to sample a different type of cuisine every night. Enjoy Thai favourites, fresh seafood, hawker snacks or upmarket international fare – you’ll find everything within a few rows of streets, just a stone’s throw from your luxury hotel accommodation in Phuket.
For the optimum holiday experience and to respect Thailand’s laws regarding animal protection, we ask you to refrain from having photos taken with endangered wildlife such as the slow loris and iguana. We also remind you to be cautious of pickpockets and to be wary of being overcharged when haggling for goods and services.
Rawai Beach, located on the south eastern coastline of Phuket, was Phuket’s first tourist beach. Today, this picturesque crescent functions as more of a working beach – a launch point for long-tail fishing boats and snorkelling tours of nearby Andaman Islands, such as Coral Island, Koh Lone and Racha. Local fisherman also moor their boats at Rawai.
Just a few minutes’ drive south of Karon Beach is Phuket’s primary surfing beach. Much quieter than Patong, its wide, white-sand beach is one of the island’s most picturesque, with palm trees lining the shore and a great array of shops and restaurants. Popular with families who stay at the local resorts, this scenic one-kilometre-long bay is safe for children to swim in, with flags to warn of dangerous conditions. Pu – ‘crab’ – Island lies just offshore, enhancing spectacular sunset views.
This exclusive beach north of Patong boasts fine white sand and clear, turquoise waters. The shoreline features a long row of shops and restaurants, with some upscale options and prices slightly higher than elsewhere in Phuket. Massage ladies set up shop under the tall casuarina trees, but generally this is a quieter beach, also popular with locals. The surf can be deceptively rough, however, and Surin get have strong undercurrents, so caution must be exercised when swimming here.
Phuket Old Town
The historic Sino-Portuguese architecture of Phuket Old Town provides a fascinating counterpoint to the stalls and Patong luxury beach resorts. Walking along the main street, you’ll see beautifully restored buildings converted into boutiques, galleries, museums, hotels and cafés. You can conduct your own walking tour of Thalang Road, Phang Nga Road, Krabi Road, Dibuk Road and Yaowarat.
